Personal Bio

I'm Viraj Garewal, a professional golfer hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina. Born and raised in NC, I played NCAA Division 1 golf at Davidson College (2018-2022) and Santa Clara University (2022-2023). My love for golf began with my grandfather, an Indian Army Colonel, whose service granted him the opportunity to play the game in the 1960s-80s when golf was reserved for the elite. My father, who was never allowed to play in India, embraced golf after immigrating to the U.S. and introduced it to me at age 3. Outside of golf, I’m passionate about playing guitar (electric and acoustic) and listening to classic rock, blues, and old-school rap. I also enjoy skiing and am eager to explore fishing more.

• I am in the same graduating class as Stephen Curry; while he played basketball for Davidson from 2006-2009, he completed his degree in 2022
• At our graduation ceremony at Davidson, we both received a shoutout and were announced together by the President of the college, as we were graduating in absentia due to athletic competitions

• While I have two college degrees, I am 0 for 2 on attending graduation ceremonies due to golf tournament obligations
• I finished my master’s degree at Santa Clara University in 2023 and left school a week early to start the PGA Tour Americas (Canada) season
• I have teed it up with NHL Hall of Fame inductee and Winnipeg Jets great Dale Hawerchuk
